Monterosso has the best beaches of the five villages and seems to attract more swimmers and sunbathers than the others. The trail goes up seemingly endless steps as it leaves Monterosso, and it has fewer views that the other sections as it traverses above the coast toward Vernazza.

A narrow section of the trail. There are several sections where the trail is so narrow that it is difficult to pass.
This section of the trail has more ups and downs, and perhaps less views that the other three sections. Here is a view looking toward Vernazza.
