The Warsaw Palace of Culture and Science
The Warsaw Palace of Culture and Science.
Originally called Stalin's Palace, this building was a gift from Soviet leader Joseph Stalin to the people of Warsaw in the early 1950's. It has always been controversial, and has received nicknames such as "The Russian Wedding Cake" and "The Vertical Barracks". It currently serves as an exhibiton center and an office park. The observation deck is a major tourist attraction.
