Edward & Dana's Vacation Home in Puszcza

The cottage.

On the return trip from Auschwitz to Katowice, we stopped at Edward & Dana's vacation cottage in Puszcza.  It had rained hard the previous day and as we approached the area we saw more and more dirt and debris on the roads, carried there by water when nearby streams overflowed their banks. Edward wondered aloud if his cottage would still be there.  It was.  But a small stream running through his yard had plugged a culvert, and diverted itself down his driveway and into the road where it was doing some damage.

Once the stream was back in its banks, we sat down at the picnic table for lunch.

I had visited Edward here in Puszcza 10 years ago as my visit with Staszek ended, and my visit with Roman began.  This picture was taken during that 1992 visit.
