Guadalupe Peak
5 February 2004
The day started cold and overcast. I decided this wasn't my day to climb and instead hiked to Smith Spring with another RVer, Ralph Spratt. But when I returned to the trailer after 11AM, the overcast had broken and I decided to start up the trail, knowing that at some point the weather would probably turn me around.
The winds were occasionally strong, but otherwise the weather remained acceptable and, to my surprise, I made it to the top about 1:45PM. There was about 2 inches of snow up there, along with cold temperatures and wind. I took a couple of summit pictures, made a couple of cell phone calls, and headed down about 2:15PM reaching the campground at 3:55PM.
