Wilanow
Originally 'Villa Nova' the name was later changed to Wilanow.
Located near the southern edge of the city, the Wilanow Palace (Note: the Wilanow website is in Polish) was originally the summer home of the Polish king Jan Sobieski in the 1600's. It has changed hands several times, and was stripped of its artwork by the Germans during WW II. Most of the art has been returned, and the palace has been restored.

Around the palace are some beautifully manicured gardens - considered to be among the most beautiful in Poland.

There is also a long, narrow lake with a promenade along one shore. Boat rides are offered, and we took one in a large gondola powered by an oar, and an electric motor.
