The Old Things of Prato

The old things of Prato include the Virgin Mary's girdle which she handed to Thomas before she rose to heaven. The girdle was supposedly bequeathed by Thomas to a priest, one of whose descendants married a crusader from Prato, who in turn brought it back to his home town in the twelfth century.  I understand that five times per year the bishop removes Mary's Sacred Girdle from its jewel-encrusted treasure chest and shows it to crowds inside the Duomo and in the nearby piazza.

Another old thing of Prato is this spitting fish fountain:

This fountain consisting of two spitting fish is located in one of Prato's plazzas.
